There was a casualty to the bombing yesterday. A boy named Danny Fenton was mailed a bomb, and Cobra Commander has threatened to take us out for getting in his way. He doesn't know the Corps exists, but be on your guard regardless. Don't handle anything suspicious and avoid traveling alone at all costs until we can deal with him and whoever else he may be working with. Avoid mentioning us in public, as well. We'll need every advantage we can get for as long as we have it.

[Anyone who seeks Lightning out today will find her in her room at the Inn, flitting between a pad of paper on the desk and the bag she's packing. The paper is covered with notes that are easy to read and the bag is smartly packed, so it's a sharp contrast to Lightning who looks a bit...frazzled in comparison to her normal self. Someone seems just a bit out of her element for some reason.]

I'll keep that in mind. Having more help wouldn't hurt.

Just make sure your team will listen to you. The last thing we'll need is a bunch of reckless Pokemon in the crossfire.

[A little distance wouldn't hurt, and they'll be able to cover more ground this way. Besides, they do have Snow and Skarmory. Flights are quick these days.]

I know. It's not like there's much choice otherwise, anyway. Ven can't handle leading this many people on his own.

[Hell, Lightning can't lead 30 people on her own. But she's not alone and she knows it. She knows that he's with her, and she heard those unspoken words, so although she doesn't smile, she does squeeze his hand in return. Where would she be without him.]

She's determined, and she seems skilled, but going alone in any of this is only going to cause more problems. Especially if she got caught and they were able to get intel out of her.

Yes. Dogpiling the pinksis and not letting her go out a window is the best option to keep her safe...or just take her to the beach. That would work too.]

[Nope. Probably marching straight into the thick of things once Serah was safe. But for now, it's to the beach once more.

And staring into his eyes because that was an unexpected move even though she felt it and moved with him, leaning her forehead against his in the moment it takes to respond. Most effective leader here? For six or fewer people, sure, but thirty? She's not so sure about that one. But she is a soldier, so...]

I promise. I don't know what good my skills will do, but I won't forget that.

Going in alone would definitely lead to trouble. No matter how storng somebody is, it's a big group we're dealing with.

And none of them should be taken lightly, even after we know exactly who they are and what we're dealing with. No sense in taking risks when we can avoid them instead.

And thank goodness she wouldn't try to keep them all. Stern Soldier would come out if they did and that wouldn't end well at all.

Unlike big sis hugs which end nicely, which this one is doing now, even though Lightning keeps her hands on Serah's shoulders for a moment longer. Gotten clingy, hasn't she?]

[Maybe derpy Lucario hugs can defuse the tension amounted by sister squabbles.]

[When Stern Soldier meets Sappy Sister all hell breaks loose. That's one brawl that'd make the swimsuit fiasco look tame.]

[Maybe, but they've got reason to be clingy after all that's happened.]

[Which means she's going to get in trouble. That's the nature of things.]

[He'll certainly try...or he'll just dunk them into the surf or nearest bathtub. Either way will defuse any tensions...hopefully. Because Sappy Sister and Stern Soldier will bring down the house if they get into it.

Serah, I mean it. Your team isn't trained enough to defend you if you're caught off guard yet. You need to be careful.

[The nature of things? More like the nature of giving big sis grey hair before she's thirty.

I'll reserve judgement on that for now.

[As soon as he feels her forehead against his own, his arms wrap against her waist, holding her steady. There are questions he could ask, details they could go over together--but she's already explained everything to him, and he knows that what she needs now, from him, is comfort.

He kisses her, gently, against the corner of her mouth.]

[Those are perfectly valid methods of defusing the situation. For the sake of all living things on Johto, hopefully it'll never come down to that.]

[Then she knows that Serah is a perfect, little angel who would never get into.... yeah, can't even finish typing that.]

I'll be careful. No being too reckless or exploring ancient ruins on my own. I've learned my lesson.

[Then they'd better start hoping. No need to bring chaos down into Johto, too.

[Though the side of her mouth quirks up a notch at his show of care, Lightning keeps her head next to Leon's, cheek to cheek with him. She just needs a moment to breathe, to finish adjusting to this mess, that's all.

And it's not comfort that she needs so much as reassurance that she's doing the right thing. That doing this isn't going to come around and bite them in the ass any more than it already has. But she won't ask for that because she knows his answer already. She knows he supports her and that's enough and he has to know but she doesn't know how to say it, so she settles for the next best thing, still held in his arms.]

Hey, they're not all like Terror.

I didn't think they were. I'm just saying we can't afford to have an issue like that on top of everything else, so make sure you have them under control before we run into trouble and Terror really lives up to his name.

I know that, but it's going to be okay. I know I've still got a long way to go, but I will get there.

It's a good title. Almost as good as Knight...given their location, anyway. Johto probably doesn't need knights in shining armor yet.]
