014 [Video/Action for Goldenrod]
[Hey, Johto. Enjoy that loud crash you're hearing, because it's only going to get louder and shatter the afternoon's relative calm. What was it? A crashing Skarmory, if the metallic screeching noise is anything to go by.
Of course, the video feed that suddenly comes on confirms that; Snow the Skarmory is hopping to his feet from where he'd crashed on the pavement, and a ball of running yellow fur can be seen just past him. Fang the Haunter is in direct pursuit of the yellow thing, and Lightning's boots cut across the feed a moment later.]
Fang, cut him off!
[The ghost seems to nod, but what, or who, is the "him"? That question is answered as the yellow thing runs right past the gear again. It's a Pichu, freshly hatched if the egg shell still half covering its head is anything to go by. It doesn't seem to be able to see anything at all, and one of its little paws catches on the cobblestone streets. This allows Lightning and Fang to catch up with it, and Lightning crouches down to remove the shell from its head.
After a moment of blinking in the newly bright light, it peers up at Lightning with wide eyes, then scampers up her arm with some quiet "Pi"s. After a moment of circling like some kind of cat would, the Pichu flops on Lightning's shoulder with an exhausted little sigh. She gives it a wry smile, then reaches over to pick up the gear, shutting it off in the process.]

[Will he allow it? Estelle, he's practically begging for it. Can you resist a bird giving you puppy-eyes?]

[Well then, Snow will get as much gentle petting as he can stand. Estelle admires his curiosity. ...Eventually, Cleffa peeks back at all of them, too]

[And he's..almost purring under that petting. Lots and lots of petting, Estelle. That's what you signed up for by letting him get close.]

[Yep. She did.
Skarmory's steel body feels a little strange under her fingers, but as long as he seems to be enjoying it, she will giggle a little and go on petting him]

No. Skarmory do.
[After a bit more of that petting, Snow will tilt his head more and more and more until he's got it practically sideways, exposing the red underside of his neck to Estelle. Scritches?]

[many scritches.]
He's very friendly. You must have done a good job raising him.
[action]
[Then you'll have one very happy Skarmory on your hands, Estelle. Incredibly happy. If he was a dog, his leg would be twitching.]
A lot of it's just his own temperament. He only listens to me in battle.

[and despite Cleffa's tiny frightened squeak, Estelle leans down and looks closer at Snow's face]
I'm sure you're very brave in battle, too, aren't you?

[Don't be scared, Cleffa! He's really a softy-bird, cooing in what seems to be a response to Estelle's question. Yes, he's very brave in battle. He's Lightning's first warning and he can fight bugs really really well!]

Are you planning to challenge the gym here?

Maybe. I'm not sure yet. [Facing Whitney's temper tantrum isn't something she wants to do, really.]
