014 [Video/Action for Goldenrod]

[Hey, Johto. Enjoy that loud crash you're hearing, because it's only going to get louder and shatter the afternoon's relative calm. What was it? A crashing Skarmory, if the metallic screeching noise is anything to go by.

Of course, the video feed that suddenly comes on confirms that; Snow the Skarmory is hopping to his feet from where he'd crashed on the pavement, and a ball of running yellow fur can be seen just past him. Fang the Haunter is in direct pursuit of the yellow thing, and Lightning's boots cut across the feed a moment later.]

Fang, cut him off!

[The ghost seems to nod, but what, or who, is the "him"? That question is answered as the yellow thing runs right past the gear again. It's a Pichu, freshly hatched if the egg shell still half covering its head is anything to go by. It doesn't seem to be able to see anything at all, and one of its little paws catches on the cobblestone streets. This allows Lightning and Fang to catch up with it, and Lightning crouches down to remove the shell from its head.

After a moment of blinking in the newly bright light, it peers up at Lightning with wide eyes, then scampers up her arm with some quiet "Pi"s. After a moment of circling like some kind of cat would, the Pichu flops on Lightning's shoulder with an exhausted little sigh. She gives it a wry smile, then reaches over to pick up the gear, shutting it off in the process.]

Maybe. Not sure it fits him, though. [Since it was just a panicked run and probably not something he actually wanted to do, but...] It's better than calling him Thundaga, at any rate. He's too small for that.

Ven said... that's an electric spell, right? [ tilting her head thoughtfully. ] Ours is Zio.

The highest level. Takes a while to cast. [And it hurts, but she's not saying that. She'll be looking over at Rise thoughtfully instead. Zio doesn't seem to fit, either, so she'll just shake her head after a moment.] Maybe Spark would be the better idea.

[ Ziodyne then, in her terms. Rise nods once-- it took longer to learn, but neither Kanji nor Souji had ever had a problem casting it as quickly as possible. ]

It fits him, at least.

He'll probably appreciate that. [Odin certainly did, back when he first got his name.] Won't know until he wakes up, though.

You know... [ studying him, and with a tone of innocence ] You could learn a lot from him, Light.

[This face, Rise. This face. You're never going to drop that, huh?] It wouldn't stick. I don't wear myself out as easily.

[ Nope. Not anytime soon. ] Well, he is a baby.

[Well...drat. Not good for Light since she'll eventually cave.] And he doesn't have the need for odd hours.[Yet. After enough time with Light, though....]

Unless Snow feels like 'singing' again...

He knows better than to do that again. [And look who just poked his head under Light's arm. Yep! It's Snow, coming to greet you, Rise.]

Hey! You've grown again! [ does the birdy want scritches? Hard to believe Rise ran screaming from the very first Skarmory she ever met. ]

[Again? He's still growing! And yes. The birdy wants scritches. He'll hop forward to get them, too. Lots and lots of scritches, please!] He's still got a lot of growing to do. Don't think he'll stop for a while.

At least I'm pretty sure he won't get bigger than Crystal. [ obliging him with a plenitude of scritches, then. Rosemary's watching him warily. No hogging her trainer, loud bird. ]

I hope not. He's already having enough trouble flying as it is. [As seen by the fact that he pretty much...crash landed earlier, and not just because he missed nabbing Spark.

What's that, pony? No hogging the trainer? Sorry, no can do. She scritches just so well, and he's quite content to stay where she can scritch him. You want her again? You'll have to move him first.]

Maybe his mom could give him flying lessons. [ since Rise has nothing that... actually flies. No matter how much her Piplup wants to. ]

She might have to if he can't figure it out. Fang can't team him the way his species flies. [He does have his moments of flight, such as during the bug invasion, but normally...well, he might as well be that Piplup's cousin.]

Fang just floats, anyway. I think he's way too heavy for that.

Way too heavy. [An indignant squawk from Snow now. He is not heavy. He is big boned, just like his lovely mother and all his siblings--shutting up in the face of Light's linefacing.] I'll have to see if anyone else around here has a bird that could teach him the basics, in case his mother can't be here to teach him.

Senpai's got a Skarmory, too! I bet he'd be happy to help.

[ this is Rise in kyaa Senpai mode. Hard to believe she's only got feelings of friendship for her leader now. ]

[Incrediblely hard of believe; Lightning's nearly wondering if she's got to watch out for her littler sister's boyfriend and break his nose, too.] Senpai?

Seta Souji-san... um, Senpai's just a term to describe an upperclassman. But he was the leader of our team back home, and he's a great listener and he's amazing at just about everything! He's so cool!!

H-huh? [ Rise looks confused for a few seconds until it sinks in, and then she shakes her head and both hands at the same time, almost whacking poor Snow in the beak. ] No, it's not like that! I mean, Senpai's amazing, but he already... I mean... [ she pauses, frowning just slightly, because rejection will never not hurt. Even though she's happy where they are now. ] We're really just good friends, and besides, Ven--
