soggypastry | 014 [Video/Action for Goldenrod]

[Hey, Johto. Enjoy that loud crash you're hearing, because it's only going to get louder and shatter the afternoon's relative calm. What was it? A crashing Skarmory, if the metallic screeching noise is anything to go by.

Of course, the video feed that suddenly comes on confirms that; Snow the Skarmory is hopping to his feet from where he'd crashed on the pavement, and a ball of running yellow fur can be seen just past him. Fang the Haunter is in direct pursuit of the yellow thing, and Lightning's boots cut across the feed a moment later.]

Fang, cut him off!

[The ghost seems to nod, but what, or who, is the "him"? That question is answered as the yellow thing runs right past the gear again. It's a Pichu, freshly hatched if the egg shell still half covering its head is anything to go by. It doesn't seem to be able to see anything at all, and one of its little paws catches on the cobblestone streets. This allows Lightning and Fang to catch up with it, and Lightning crouches down to remove the shell from its head.

After a moment of blinking in the newly bright light, it peers up at Lightning with wide eyes, then scampers up her arm with some quiet "Pi"s. After a moment of circling like some kind of cat would, the Pichu flops on Lightning's shoulder with an exhausted little sigh. She gives it a wry smile, then reaches over to pick up the gear, shutting it off in the process.]

It doesn't feel that way... I mean, I was selfish, with both of them. Even though I knew what would happen, I still put Ven through a lot of trouble.

He'd forgive you for it if he blamed you in the first place. Ven doesn't seem to be the kind of person to hold grudges against his friends.

He's not. He just wasn't ready for anything like that, but he still made sure to tell me that.

You'll just have to give him time, I guess. Things might change.

[Headshake. She has...no worthwhile experience with this kind of thing.]

If they did... [ super tentatively, mainly because she has no idea whether this will happen or not. ] You'd be okay with it... right?

[At that question, Lightning hesistates to answer. Would she be alright with it? She doesn't know Ven very well, but he's a nice enough boy and he cares for his friends. He would take care of Rise in the event that she needed it, and most likely without hesitating.

In a way, he's like Snow. So, after another moment, Lightning slowly nods.]

...Yeah. I think so.

[ Rise releases a breath after a minute with a shaky laugh. ] So this is what it's like, huh?

Maybe. [A wry little smile, and Light sighs.] I wouldn't be able to tell you from experience.

Well, whoever goes after you has to deal with me and Serah first. [ and Rise will be picky if she must. ]

I don't think either of you will have much to actually worry about. [It isn't as if Lightning has suitors appearing left and right; there's no one to be picky over and probably won't ever be.]

I don't know about that... [ she's been watching Leon. ]

Something I should be worried about? [Not that she'd actually worry much about herself, but...]

Nope! Not at all. [ not yet. ]

[A tad wary, but...that's a nod. She trusts Rise to be right about this.] Okay.

[Though there will still be plenty of sisterly concern over this whole Ven thing until it gets settled.]

Sorry for tossing all this stuff at you at once, Light.

[ no worries, big sis, they've settled as friends. ]

Don't be. It's fine.

[They are sisters, after all. And what else is family for?]

... Right! [ and she really feels a whole lot better. ]

[And, with the mood improved and no more flailing hands, Snow is just going to be rubbing his beak against Rise's arm. More scritches, please? He's just earned himself an exasperated look from Lightning, after all.]

Snow...[So much like his namesake, really.]

[ okay, fine, more scritches for you. ] Is he really like Snow? I kind of remember him being a giant goofball.

[Yay, more scritches! He's one very content bird now.] Only when there's nothing important going on. Snow knew when to stop goofing off. [if lives were at stake, Lightning wouldn't have found a more serious man.]

But I named him after Snow because of how loud he talks. Could hear them both clear across a city.

Really? I guess I never actually met him in person...

You'd know him right away if he ever shows up here again, even if you never met him face to face. [Or, you know, Lightning would just point him out if needed.]

That'd be the guy you're punching in the face, right?

Right. He's got it coming after vanishing like he did.

Serah must miss him a lot, too.
