[Hi, Johto. Hve you been enjoying your...odd weekend? Hopefully so, because it's about to get weirder. Enjoy your view of Lightning hunched over a stove in the Cherrygrove Pokémon Center, stirring something in a pot. It's an odd sight, both with her hair twisted up into a messy bun and the fact that she's...actually cooking. Anyone who knows her knows that's not a good sign. Especially when she's starting to look a little bit frazzled.]

No, no, no...come on. Don't you dare burn.

[Yes, she's talking to her pot of...something. Unfortunately, this doesn't help her with the cooking and it's with a rather frustrated sound that she takes that pot off the stove, camera tracking her movements while she places it in the sink before scrubbing her face, leaving smears of chocolate down her cheeks as she takes a breath to regain her composure. Is she giving up? Not on your life.

She's just turning back to the counter, where there's enough ingredients for one more try along with a recipe book she's looking back at.]

You could always help, you know.

[A startled "Pika!" and...end feed. Spark still enjoys being Camera-chu, it seems.]

[Said as she turns back to her recipe book, face turned away from Hope as she continues...though he'll probably see the faintest hint of a blush on her cheeks if he looks close enough.]

They wash off with enough scrubbing.

...Truly? I must have done something wrong.

[That actually got him to think long enough to pause in his dancing.]

Mm. Good luck, anyway.

I doubt a Pokemon would be able to help in cooking...

[A thoughtful pause. Everyone seems to be in such good spirits and it looked like a holiday was coming, but Aqua's got no time for romance and lovey-dovey things.

...Even if normally she loves chocolate.]

What kind of recipe are you using?

Oh.

[Suspicious bro is suspicious. But he cleans the utensils and gets ready to start. Reading the recipe he nods to himself, taking the first one and placing it in the bowl.]

Who is someone important? [He tried to remain casual, but there is a little bit of pinkness to his ears that might give him away.

Silly bro wants to know who he has to instantly hate no matter who they are. Unless it's him. Which he doubts.]

[ Sorry, Lightning, but you covered in chocolate is too good to resist. At least it's not the cooking? But she'll be glad you're not resisting, considering she's carefully washing your face clean.

She's also in too good a mood to torture Lightning, so she won't even comment on that "people you care about" line. ]

So which part's the problem?

[Sis should be suspicious right back at suspicious bro, but she's in a good mood and it's hard to be suspicious at family she trusts. Which is probably not a very good thing at the moment, all things considered...]

It takes a while, and the right scrubbing pads, but they do come off. They're just stains, not actual burns.

[Oh, good. Because she's looking at him now in order to make her point...and yes, she's still got chocolate smeared on her face. Hasn't quite noticed.]

...No, I'm quite certain part of the counter was burned off. Though you seem rather stained yourself.

[Sadly, he's already starting to sway again.]

[Lightning is grateful that it's not her lack of cooking skill getting teased, at the very least. Even if she'd normally shrug off Fang's cleaning and do it herself, but...hey, what're friends for, right?]

Keeping it from burning. I'm sure I have the temperature right, but it won't work with me.

Maybe not, but it's better than leaving him to the gear all day.

[Said as she focuses on her recipe, determined to get it right this time or die trying. ...You know. Minus the actual dying bits.

As for the recipe itself, Lightning shifts so the gear can show the pages she's looking at. It's a pretty fancy recipe, what with the heart shaped chocolates covered in powdered sugar. It's probably not the best thing to start with, but she's doing it. At least it only calls for basic ingredients?]

The only one I could find. They didn't have much else to work with.

[Then it's lucky for Lightning she looks away just in time, huh? She was about to say something about the burnt off counter top, but stained? Yeah, she's just getting more of the stuff on her face as she checks, then grumbles and moves to clean that off.]

Should have had Serah teach me...

[ Finished with her self-appointed task, Fang leans back and considers. ]

Tried usin' a double boiler yet? Simpler when it ain't directly on the heat.

[Lightning's sudden confused look should answer that question, along with any other wonders Fang had about her cooking skills. Roasting monster meat on a fire is one thing. Making things on a stove is another.]

I don't even know what a double boiler looks like.

[ Thankfully Lightning has already mentioned the purpose of these chocolates, or Fang would be trying to kick her off the stove right now. ]

Right. So what've you got here? If ya don't have one, a pot and a metal bowl that can sit on top'll do fine.

[That would certainly be a good plan]

[And with a click, he turns off the video feed. Time to put away his gear and hurry over to where Pinksis is]

[He'll be glad to hear she's not moving from where she is, then. When he gets to the Center, she's still in the kitchen and still attempting to make the chocolates, with Spark playing with the recipe book on a counter top. The Pika does look up and chatter a greeting whenever Ven comes inside, though. Hi there!]

[She can still try if she thinks things are getting out of hand, but Lightning will fight her on that as easily as she drops to her knees, pawing through a ground level cabinet and coming up with...yep. A metal bowl that should fit on the pot she's got left to work with. She might not be able to cook, but she can find things. Most of the time.]

How is this going to work any better than just using the pot?

[And Bolt chatters in return as Ven smiles over his armful of paper bags, full of ingredients. After last year's experience he decided he'd be extra prepared this year]

Hey Lightning, hey Spark!

If you happen to be lucky, you might have the chancce to ask in time for next year! ...The chocolate does depend on the date, yes?

[He hasn't paid much attention to the holiday.]

Chocolate burns pretty easily.

[Dropping his bag, he moves over to her. Her face is easily cradled in his hands, as he examines the spackle of chocolate she's left behind. Without pause or hesitation, he bends and kisses it away, mouth, lips, tongue wiping her clean again. The taste, though slightly burnt, is effective.

When he pulls back, his expression is intense as ever, but there's the edge of a smile on his face. He gives the recipe book a glance.]

You didn't have to go through that much trouble. Thank you. [A beat.] For thinking of me.

[Extra prepared is good. It's very good, because Pinksis is a total disaster in the kitchen and she's somehow managed to...get more chocolate smeared on her face. Yep. Total disaster.

At least she's in a good mood, though. Smiling at Ven and everything.]

Hey. Glad you could make it.

[A nod, and...yep. She's blushing faintly. Don't see that very often, huh?]

Yeah. Today and something more important later this month.

[Lightning turns with the intention to say "I noticed", but then he's cradling her face and kissing her. And they're not the lip-kisses which are amazing in their own right, but something more. Something that lights the fire in her belly and deepens the blush on her cheeks as she puts her hands on his shoulders, leaning into his touch until he's pulled away and she can look into his eyes.

He's not the only one with an intense expression, after all.]

It's been almost six months, you know. I wanted to do something special.

[Especially in a place like this, where they could all disappear at any second. Six months is a big thing.]
