013 [Video/Action for Goldenrod Pokemon Center]

[It's known to quite a few people that Lightning has been sleeping for a week now. What isn't quite as well known, however, is that her Lucario hasn't left her room no matter which human is at her side. So when the gear clicks on to show Lightning still sound asleep, there's the edge of a black paw on the feed. That pretty much clenches who's recording this.

Recording what, you may ask? Well, just watch the human on the bed as she slowly comes back to the world of Johto. She blinks for a bit, obviously still half asleep, before she slowly raises a hand to her forehead.]

Fal'Cie...

[And, before she can say anything else, Lightning is tackled by her Lucario. Over the happy yips and other noises he's making, the sound of the gear clattering to the ground isn't heard by anyone in the room.]

The Conflict. [Short sigh. They hadn't talked much there, but it's enough.] I never talked to the other you while he was here.

Right.

[He nodded briskly, filing away that little tidbit of worry--not that he would admit to having it in the first place. It was already discerning that Tifa was younger and didn't remember anything about him, or the Conflict. He didn't need another ally knowing nothing. The others, though, they somehow remembered events differently. Even mentioned that he--]

Bartz mentioned this but, did you ever fight against Chaos? The God himself.

[A sharp headshake, and her mouth forms a tight line.]

No. We were too busy dealing with the Manikins to go deal with Chaos.

We?

[Squall stared blankly, maybe Kain didn't get them all if it's a 'we'.]

You went after the manikins. Why?

Because there were too many of them pouring out of the rift to fight against. They had to be stopped at any cost if we were going to have a chance at winning against Chaos.

[He nodded. That made sense. An endless army, it wasn't something that slipped his observation before Kain--]

Who fought with you, Lightning?

There were five others. Kain, Tifa, Yuna, Vaan, and Laguna. [A moment of silence, before she shakes her head.] None of us made it out of that alive.

Kain helped?

[Not captured by the 'gear, Squall's hand tightened into a hard fist. Then the rest of her statement sunk in.]

...You're here now. Alive. That's the only thing that matters.

Yeah. We wouldn't have made it without him.

[But then her shoulders slump a bit.] For now. But not when my family goes home.

...Right.

[He doesn't believe it, not one bit. Kain helping after what he did to Zidane--to him. Excuse Squall for not being Mr. Trusting.]

Family? ...People from your world--your home world--are here. In this place.

[Oh, she'll excuse him. She didn't trust Kain herself up until the end. But that's a nod.]

Yeah. My little brother and sister are here, along with others.

[Squall nodded slowly. A family, so Lightning had a family in this world... Wait, that means...]

You got your memories back.

[Nod.] When I woke up here, yeah. It was like I never forgot in the first place.

...Might have been a reward. For eliminating the Manikin threat.

Zidane and I... we don't remember anything. Still.

Maybe. No way to be sure.

[Siiiigh. She's...not sure what could get them their memories back.] Could always fight. That might work here, too.

It's... an option.

[But not one, Squall would want to do if he can help it. Fighting without his gunblade; yeah, not happening. Unless someone dragged him to a gym and provoked him into doing it.]

Could be worse ways to get your memories back. [Like, you know, dying. Not that's going to say that now.]

[Frown. Don't you "hn" at her, mister.] Around seven months.

[He trailed off, unsure if he should say it. Yeah, she mentioned it but even for Squall, mentioning you died ~~and was backstabbed by an ally, even~~ was a touchy subject]

Before all that. I didn't know about the Conflict until now.[shrug.]

[~~He graduated. He just doesn't remember it. And neither does SE. But he's no schoolboy, gdi~~]

Did you ever go back home at all?

[~~Well, to her, he's a schoolboy. One with so much to learn.~~

No. It was from here to the Conflict and back. I never made it home.
